What a wonderful summer it has turned out to be for the growth of the gardens! However, the anticipated building expansion has been a struggle for our patience. We are still on hold with approvals from the Conservation Committee and are going on 3 months later than expected to start construction. To make matters more difficult, the recent amount of rain has made it impossible for us to pin down a time for the annual garden party. Therefore, we will not have a tour this year. Although the sky is not as blue as we would like, at least we were able to click a few photos today in between the clouds and sprinkles. We have spent a good part of the summer working on adding plants for next summer, so the beds are filling up nicely with new daylily and other perennials. Hopefully the construction and new studio areas will be complete by summer 2019 and you can join us for a class or workshop!

Recently, we were lucky to capture a photo of a Monarch caterpillar that has chosen to feast on our Asclepias Syriaca, aka Common Milkweed. Including varieties of healthy Milkweed in the garden is essential to helping the declining population of the Monarch butterfly. We are honored to have these beautiful creatures as part of the landscape. Looking forward to seeing more of them after the miraculous transformation!
