Exciting day for the next stage of the greenhouse project! Everyone available pitched in for the foundation stage of the project and we worked hard! Having never done anything like this before, we feel pretty good about the end result. The concrete is setting up for the next few days while we take a break on site work and get back on schedule with prepping the frame boards and painting the last of the doors and windows...

The past three days have been active around here. The greenhouse foundation was originally going to be crushed stone with a layer of concrete block, but with all the hungry wildlife we have been seeing lately, we have decided to go a bit more heavy duty. The plans have been adapted to include an under layer of wire mesh and a poured concrete foundation so that hungry critters keep to their natural food sources and not our seedlings. The Shadblow Serviceberry [Amelanchier Canadensis] is a multi-stemmed deciduous shrub, native to North Central Massachusetts...

She simply asked if anyone might have any "flowers to spare" and if so, would we want to contribute to the natural arrangements she is planning to include in the wedding. How could any of us resist? Mom and I enjoyed walking through the garden picking which flowers to contribute. Blessings from the garden to the happy couple...
